Hello Makers!

February 3, 2017

Hello All…I am so excited to be starting this blog and am genuinely  hoping that you think of this place as your own.  We would love to have you be a part of our little maker’s circle…the more the merrier.  It is, first and foremost, an inclusive group of women who get together around my kitchen table every week to create.  And trust me, it’s soooooo “no pressure”.   We sew, paint, knit, embroider, make jewelry…whatever strikes our fancy. I call it the “shiny ball syndrome” because we are easily distracted by pretty things.   None of us are trained artists but all of us create beautiful things and it really does give us joy to be together “making”.  There are tons of laughter, sometime tears and a boatload of mutual inspiration (and chocolate…thanks Heather).

I will be sharing all of it with you… what we are a working on, our current obsessions and the workshops we hold periodically. I will try to be as detailed as I can with with the process, pics and links for any DIY projects so that you can make stuff right along with us.  Please let me know if you need more information and I’ll get it to you ASAP.

Oh yeah, the cow picture here is included as encouragement for all of us to try new things.  Not because it’s good, but because I tried it.   I took a stab at watercolor painting this summer because I’ve always loved the ethereal look of it.  So off to Michaels for some newbie supplies and then onto Pinterest for inspiration.  (Yes, Pinterest is a problem for me.) This picture is the finished piece that I did.  It’s not totally original, but it’s my version of another painter’s work… which is ok as I was learning the process.  And now I have my little cow, who I call Marion on the wall of my kitchen.  She hangs with our maker’s circle.  And it makes me smile when I look at her to know I didn’t listen to that voice in my head telling me “you’re not a trained painter..it’s going to be awful”.  I tried it anyway!  And now watercolor is my “meditation” when life is crappy.

So please join us here if you feel like some company.  Feeding our creativity together has been sustaining for each one of us and we hope it will be for you as well.
